In a spirit of celebration this summer, Aurora Theatre's Teatro del Sol presents AN EVENING OF SALSA AND MERENGUE WITH HAVANA SON tonight, July 19 at 8 p.m.

Pulse to the rhythms and sultry sounds of a tropical paradise with the music of Havana Son. Mercury Records recording artist, award winning composer/arranger, and Cuban native, Rene Herrera along with his wife Llilian (Tropicoso, Latin X-Posure, Bioritmo, Puerto Rican Ensemble) bring the music to life through piano, vocals, guitar and the tres (Traditional Cuban Stringed Instrument) creating an intoxicating cocktail of Latin rhythms such as Salsa, Merengue, Son, Cha Cha, boleros, bachata, vallenato, cumbia and more. Lawrenceville's own PeruMex will be on hand to make your taste buds dance, with samples of their authentic Peruvian cuisine. Aurora is starting an ARTS Revolution, a yearlong campaign that uses art as a catalyst to make our world a better place. While many Latin-American countries are celebrating their independence in July, Aurora's Teatro del Sol invites all to join us in celebration and kickoff our ARTS Revolution with An Evening of Salsa and Merengue. ¡Viva Teatro del Sol!

Tickets will cost $15. For more information, visit www.auroratheatre.com.

Founded by Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director, Anthony P. Rodriguez, Teatro del Sol is a Spanish language theatre initiative whose goal is the preservation of Hispanic cultural heritage. For the past three years, Teatro del Sol has produced a professional theatrical production in April gaining international acclaim including multiple appearances on CNN Español. This April is no exception as Teatro del Sol presents the Argentinean comedy DIVORCIADAS, EVANGELICAS Y VEGETARIANAS by Gustavo Ott. According to the Atlanta Regional Commission, Gwinnett is the most diverse county in the Southeastern United States and many cultures whose native language is Spanish are represented in the community. This year, in addition to an April theatrical production there will be more Teatro del Sol events as Aurora looks to create a home for Latin-American arts and culture. As a first generation American of Cuban decent, Mr. Rodriguez saw the need to serve this large local demographic as a fundamental passion.
