Independent touring and recording artist Scott Helmer, who has opened for iconic acts such as Heart, Eddie Money, 3 Doors Down, Jeff Bridges, Eric Burdon & The Animals, and Big Country, is closing in on the wrap-up of his hugely successful Support YOUR Cause tour 2014-2015 with his final performance scheduled at the historic Calumet Theatre on December 27. True to his tireless nature, however, Helmer is already making plans for his next tour: The Never Give Up Tour 2016 will help good causes across America raise funds and awareness for their important work.

Helmer has spent the last 18 months traveling across America, donating his time and talent by performing at 200+ concerts for free in venues ranging from historic theatres to Harley-Davidson dealerships, all to help raise funds and awareness for good causes. "Each time I perform, I see towns both big and small across our great nation come together and support each other at the local level," which is exactly what Helmer's tours are designed to do. Thanks to his tireless efforts, the Support YOUR Cause tour has surpassed its $1,000,000 goal of funds raised for such great causes as military veterans and their families, equine and pet rescues, food banks, non-profit theatres, special needs children and adults, and many more. His next effort, the Never Give Up Tour 2016 will launch this coming March, and all non-profit groups across the country can sign up to participate in raising funds and awareness for their causes by clicking here.

His tour included an attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for Most Live Concerts in 24 Hours, a record currently held by Hunter Hayes. Helmer tied the world record with 10 concerts, but was unable to beat it. "It was a complex effort, and unforeseen logistical difficulties got in the way," Helmer noted, "But I'm excited to make it happen in 2016! A lot of amazing people worked really hard on the event, from the venues and their staff to all the people who came out to attend each concert. I am deeply grateful to each and every one of them." Helmer adds, "there are so many people and places that make America great, and my new Never Give Up Tour 2016 will help to support them."

It's hard to imagine a person like Helmer would ever put a gun in his mouth to commit suicide, but he did exactly that during his darkest hour in 2008. "Everything I'm doing now goes back to that moment where I was one second away from pulling the trigger," says Helmer. "I had to make those dark times in my life mean something and using my music to give back is the best way I know how. I hope my story inspires others to keep going, even when times get tough and it appears as if there is no hope. Things do get better and I am living proof of that."

After making a huge mistake back in 2008 that cost him his livelihood and his family, Helmer hit the reset button on his life to focus on three simple things: Creating music, performing music, and helping others, which is why he's also an enthusiastic volunteer for Musicians On Call. Helmer notes, "If I can come back from the brink, anyone can. I hope my story inspires others to never give up." His 2016 tour is built on that theme and promises to be even bigger and better than his current tour. Each solo-acoustic performance will feature rock and country favorites along with Helmer's own material and a few added surprises.
