Close your eyes and imagine for a moment that you're at a festival. What do you see around you? Badly constructed tents caked with mud, greedy mits spilling-over with goblets of pear cider, flustered looking dinner ladies serving what's purporting to be a lamb burger. Check, check, check. But something's missing. And that thing is CSS. Yes the five headed, Sao Paulo art-pop masters embodied the joyful, free spirit of festivals ever since their 2006 debut. Armed with day-glo cat-suits, judicious amounts of glitter and two albums (Cansei der Ser Sexy and 2008's Donkey) that were filled with such four-to-the-floor bounders like "Move", "Alala" and of course "Let's Make Love And Listen Death From Above". Three years is a long time but now they're back with La Liberación. Recorded in Sao Paulo and featuring contributions from Ratatat and Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie, it's both a true melding of their debut's riotous anarchy and Donkey's grungey maturity. It also shows the band pulling off some most excellent sonic tricks and, as it turns out, pulling back from the brink that they found themselves in following their grueling touring schedule. Adriano explains "We had been touring for years non-stop (and) we had some serious management issues." Returning to Sao Paulo allowed the band recuperate and take stock. "(We were in) a completely different state of mind. Rested, happy, well fed, satisfied, fit and looking good!" Lovefoxx adds: "Being in São Paulo helped a whole lot. I don't like being a foreigner for too long. I was in love with my life. Feeling energetic. I was feeling inspired and happy."

VJ Kittyrox started her DJ career in 1986, making her first 80s mix tape at age nine. At ten, she fell deeply in love with Adam Curry and remained glued to MTV until many years later. She continued her mix tape and MTV obsession through the 90s. She then put her DJ skills to use in college as a radio DJ for KUGS 89.3 FM in Bellingham, Washington. After moving to Portland, VJ Kittyrox started DJ'ing craft nights at a local bar playing an eclectic mix of music. But she could never get those songs from that original tape out of her head-Word Up, Walk Like an Egyptian, and Into the Groove were still the ultimate dance songs in her opinion and she set out on a path to spread the 80s word in Portland. In 2005, VJ Kittyrox started her own exclusively 80s dance night with accompanying videos-80s Video Dance Attack. Five years later, 80s Video Dance Attack draws huge crowds to venues throughout Oregon and Washington.
