Time capsules containing John Lennon's music will be stored at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on October 9, contactmusic.com reports. The capsules are being created in honor of what would have been Lennon's seventieth birthday and will be opened in 2040 in honor of the hundredth anniversary of his birth.

The capsules will celebrate Lennon's career after the breakup of the Beatles.

Fans are encouraged to send the museum "birthday wishes, music, and artwork" to place in the capsules, Contact Music reports.

Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, has stated that she is "delighted" by the project.
