Renowned harpist, Richard Spendio, has agreed to appear as a guest artist for Summer Soul Sounds: Music for the Mind, Body, & Spirit at the 13th Street Repertory Theatre on August 14th. He joins Mary Elizabeth Micari, an ordained minister and Reiki master, who has gathered a group of vibrant musicians to create an afternoon of sound and music healing.

Richard Spendio began performing as a harpist professionally in 1976, playing Off-Broadway with the WPA Theatre among others as well as touring with The Theatre of the Open Eye, a company founded by dancer Jean Erdman and her husband, author Joseph Campbell.

Celtic, pedal, baroque, medieval and Asian harps, and other instrumentation became Mr. Spendio's stock & trade at theatrical venues, concerts, and engagements at the Peninsula and Plaza hotels, the Terrace and Hilton, as well as performances at the Beacon Theatre. He also appeared in the inaugural concert of the Historical Harp Society in 1984.

Today, Mr. Spendio is a respected musician known for his mesmerizing Harp interpretations performed around the country and around the world.

He joins Rev. Mary and international singer Malia Kulp, Jazz instrumentalist Erik Lawrence, Daniel Lauter and his singing bowls, and musician and historian George Brandon.

13th Street Repertory Theater (50 West 13th Street, NYC) will present Summer Soul Sounds: Music for the Mind, Body & Spirit on August 14 from 6 - 9 pm.
