Railroad Earth Performs at Boulder Theater Tonight
Z2 Entertainment will present Railroad Earth at the Boulder Theater tonight, August 1st, 2014.
Railroad Earth is a rock & roll bluegrass band that hails from Stillwater, New Jersey. The band was originally composed of Todd Sheaffer (vocalist, guitarist & songwriter), Tim Carbone (violinist), John Skehan (mandolin), Andy Goessling (multi-instrumentalist), Carey Harmon (drummer), and Dave Von Dollen (bass). The band came together in 2001 and got their musical start playing local venues in their hometown. After three weeks of rehearsing and writing original material, the band decided to go into the studio and record a five-song demo. The demo landed the band a slot at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and exposed their music to a whole new legion of fans. After the festival the band headed back into the studio to complete their debut album, "The Black Bear Sessions" (2001). The album produced the popular songs: "Seven Story Mountain," "Head" and "Railroad Earth." Sugar Hill Records offered the band a record deal shortly thereafter. 2002 saw the band release their follow-up, "Bird In A House," featuring the popular songs: "Like A Buddha," "Mighty River," and the album's title track. Railroad Earth supported the album with a tour that exposed their music to larger audiences all over America; as a result the band's fan base multiplied overnight. The band also embarked on the festival circuit, appearing at ant and Roots, Folk, and Bluegrass festivals. 2003 marked the departure of Von Dollen, who was replaced by bassist Johnny Grubb. The band's third album, "The Good Life," emerged in 2004 and spawned the popular songs, "Storms," Mourning Flies," and "Goat." 2007 saw the band performing at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. A year later marked the bands fourth studio album, "Amen Corner," which was released in 2008. The album features songs such as "Hard Livin'," "Waggin' The Dog," and "Lovin' You." 2009 saw Grubb's departure from the band and his replacement, Andrew Altman joining. The band set to work on their fifth album, "Railroad Earth," which arrived in 2010. Currently, the band just released their sixth studio album, "Last Of The Outlaws" in January of 2014.
