"Places You Will Go," the latest track from Patrick Watson's upcoming record Love Songs For Robots, is premiering at The Fader. Of the track, The Fader praises, "as nearly hallucinatory as it is pleasing to the ears."

Love Songs for Robots, set for release today, May 12 via Domino Records, is receiving early critical praise-Consequence of Sound calls it "rich and ethereal," while Stereogum adds "Watson's voice exists in that airy, impossible realm that seems more spiritual than physical in form." The album follows Watson's critically acclaimed 2012 release Adventures In Your Own Backyard.

In addition, the title track from the album recently premiered at NPR Music "All Songs Considered" New Mix, and Watson shared a teaser for the album, which includes the track "In Circles," watch here.

To celebrate the release, Watson will embark on a worldwide tour, with additional dates to be announced. See details below.

The new music was recorded at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles and Pierre Marchand Studio in Montreal. Of the record, some of which was debuted at private concerts in small loft spaces, Watson explains, "I wanted to make a science fiction R n' B meets Vangelis erotica with a zest of folk kind of record." It was only halfway through writing the record when the artist found himself having, by his own submission, "a bad year" did more personal themes begin to creep in. "I started thinking about how emotional reactions were more mechanical than we think and the only thing left between us and artificial intelligence is the act of inspiration. Just food for thought."

Watson composes, performs and records his albums with his full band of almost a decade, which includes Joe Grass (guitars), Robbie Kuster (drums/percussion) and Mishka Stein (bass). The recipient of Canada's elite Polaris Music Prize in 2007, Watson and his band have performed to over 100,000 people at the 2009 Montreal Jazz Festival as well as with full orchestras in Amsterdam and Montreal. Raised and still living in Montreal, Watson himself has composed 15 scores for both film and television, including a trailer for "The Walking Dead" and Wim Wenders' new 3D film "Everything Will Be Fine", where he performed the songs "Cynical World" (an original for the film) and "Lighthouse."

Love Songs For Robots is available for pre-order on iTunes with an instant download of the title track. The vinyl edition comes with an additional 7", featuring a non-album track, and can be preordered along with the CD on the Domino Mart.
