Recently wrapping a North American tour, Russian producer PROXY takes full control over the EDM empire with the release of MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART II, out February 11, 2013, via Dim Mak Records. PART II is the final installment of the MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES release, a two-part series and the debut album from the world-renowned artist out on Dim Mak in North America and on Turbo Recordings internationally. MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART I is available now.
In celebration of announcing MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES PART II, PROXY has premiered a teaser video for album track “Red Juke” on influential U.K. music/culture publication NME. Watch the “Red Juke” teaser video here: http://bcove.me/xztp3vv6.
PROXY has created a work that harnesses the spirit of pure electronic music culture and showcases the prolific underground dance floor-czar's wide-spanning body of work. Years in the making, the MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES series features a massive stockpile of new material with over 20 combined tracks that span and elevate countless genres—notably inflected by classic bass and drum ‘n’ bass ethos—without regard for trends or ephemeral influences.
PART II forces an unconditional surrender with a mix of acid ("Audio 15"), ambient ("Nanomed"), Eastern-flavored pop ("Coke") and hip-hop inflected head-nodders ("9000"). PART I opens the siege with flag-bearing marches ("Raja Ganja"), imperial air-raid bangers ("Raw") and unhinged breakbeat madness ("Junk") and also features PROXY classics both renowned ("Raven") and unreleased ("Abyss").
The MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES series is the product of an artist who forged a sound in complete isolation with visa problems leading him to entrench himself in the middle of nowhere in his native Russia, continuing in the U.K. rave tradition of his Essex-spawned idols, The Prodigy. The disparate pieces of MUSIC FROM THE EASTBLOCK JUNGLES converge into a monolithic nation-statement, one worthy of one of the most talented producers of his generation.
