America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, Music Mountain, continues its 84th season with America's foremost Gilbert & Sullivan repertory ensemble, the New YorK Gilbert & Sullivan Players, on Saturday, June 22nd (6:30PM) ----And for Anglo enthusiasts, there is a special pre-Concert 1880's British themed dinner at the Falls Village Inn slated for 5PM. Also this weekend are two exceptional concerts on Sunday June 23rd: the acclaimed Hausmann String Quartet at3PM, with guest artist Jonathan Yates, piano and at 5:30pm,Tobias Steymans, violin and Victoria Schwartzman, piano, will play Leclair, Beethoven & Strauss. Music Mountain's 13-week schedule will feature seventeen Chamber Music concerts, a twilight series of Jazz, Big Band and Country Music concerts, and the first ever Folk Music Jamboree. Underwritten by an anonymous donor, this Saturday evening featuring The New YorK Gilbert & Sullivan Players will journey into the spontaneous and classical world of Gilbert & Sullivan. The company's acclaimed "Wand'ring Minstrels," consisting of a quintet of principal soloists, will perform "Pirates" in One Act. Performers play multiple roles but tell the entire story including the famous musical numbers from Pirates of Penzance including costumes and staging. After the intermission, the Minstrels (in black tie) present a repertory concert of Gilbert & Sullivan, including their signature feat - impromptu audience requests! Back by popular demand after last summer's successful pre-concert themed dinner, audience members will be able to dine at an 1880's British Dinner at the Falls Village Inn. On Sunday afternoon (3PM), Hausmann String Quartet returns to Music Mountain for another summer to play another exhilarating concert with guest artist Jonathan Yates, piano. The program will be: Webern: Langsamer Satz, being performed for only the second time at Music Mountain; Beethoven: String Quartet in C Sharp Minor, Opus 131; and Dvorak: Piano Quintet in A Major, Opus 81. The Hausmann String Quartet's vision is to make chamber music a vital, relevant, and widely appreciated art form. Now in their eighth season, the Quartet has enjoyed a busy and successful schedule, touring extensively in North America and China. In 2012 the quartet founded the Hausmann Chamber Music Program (HCMP), a semester program and summer festival for students of all ages to learn chamber music, attend performances, and participate in workshops given by the quartet and guest artists. The Hausmann String Quartet is currently on faculty at San Diego State University as Artists in Residence.

Jonathan Yates has earned high praise as a solo pianist and conductor. A graduate of Harvard and The Juilliard School, he made his Carnegie Hall debut as a pianist in the Isaac Stern Chamber Music Concerts. Mr. Yates is currently conductor of the Sarah Lawrence College Orchestra. Music Mountain gratefully acknowledges concert support by the Hellen Plummer Foundation with its gift in memory of James Merrill, Connecticut's first Poet Laureate.

The following concert at 5:30pm will feature international guest artist Tobias Steymans, Violin, and Victoria Schwartzman, Piano. This powerful duo will present the Music Mountain premiere of Leclair: Sonata for Violin & Piano in D Major, Opus 9 # 3; Beethoven: Violin & Piano Sonata # 10 in G Major, Opus 96; and Strauss: Sonata for Violin & Piano in E Flat Major, Opus 18. Tobias Steymans is the Violinist & Concertmaster of the prestigious Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Germany. Appearing as a soloist and as a member of chamber orchestras, Mr. Steyman has performed throughout Europe and North America.

This is Victoria Schwartzman's third appearance at Music Mountain. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Ms. Schwartzman has performed all over the world as a soloist and a chamber musician. Also active in the field of opera, Ms. Schwartzman is on the coaching faculty in the Vocal Department at Montclair State University.

The summer continues with many more chamber music concerts, including St. Petersburg String Quartet (June 30 & July 7th); Penderecki String Quartet (July 14); Arianna String Quartet (July 21); and Dover String Quartet (July 28). In addition, the new and popular Saturday evening "twilight" series continues with Jive By Five (June 29); Evans Haile (July 6); and Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks (July 13).

Music Mountain is located in Falls Village, Connecticut on Music Mountain Road, where a short scenic drive will bring you to Gordon Hall atop Music Mountain. Free parking and picnic facilities are available. Food, wine & beer are also available for purchase.
