Magnet Magazine is now hosting the exclusive premiere of the music video for "Asha," the new single from the Adam Franklin & Bolts of Melody album Black Horses, which was released this summer via Goodnight Records, and is set for a September 20th release in Australia/New Zealand and Japan.

"Asha" fits with the general aesthetic of Black Horses, which features ten highly cinematic, rich and intricate tracks, demonstrating Adam Franklin's ability to craft songs with depth and poignancy without becoming obtuse.

"There was something undeniably 'exotic' about the sampled sound on 'Asha' of the Indian sarangi instrument, which I first heard on a mixtape someone gave me in the '90s," explains Franklin to Magnet Magazine. "We wanted to create a video that was like almost like a mixtape of exotic images where everything flies by you at the speed of light and it's like a bombardment of the senses. The recording itself has all sorts of sounds nestling in the far corners of the sonic spectrum, and I think the video reflects that."

Black Horses is Adam Franklin's fourth studio album. It retains much of his signature layered guitar work with a strong sense of melody. These songs have such distinct texture and fleshed out arrangements that aurally Black Horses recalls the great headphones records of earlier decades. There are certain themes that run throughout, which lend an instrumental narrative to the album as well, deepening the listening experience by creating a sonic pathway across the album's ten tracks.

From 1990 to 1998, Adam Franklin was the singer, guitarist and main songwriter for London-based Swervedriver before the band reunited in 2008, which included a high-profile performance at Coachella. Swervedriver were contemporaries of and label mates with My Bloody Valentine and Ride but with a more adrenalized rock 'n' roll sound, showing flashes of Husker Du and Sonic Youth. Swervedriver is embarking on a tour of Australia this month, playing their seminal album Raise in its entirety. To celebrate the tour, Swervedriver is also releasing a limited edition 7" of their first new music in fifteen years - "Deep Wound" b/w "Dub Wound," out on Tym Records.
