Omaha Performing Arts presents Kurt Elling "Elling Swings Sinatra" in the Scott Recital Hall at the Holland Performing Arts Center tonight, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 the day of the show, and are available at TicketOmaha.com, 402.345.0606 or at the Ticket Omaha Office inside the Holland Center, 1200 Douglas St. Elling's performance is a part of the 2014/15 1200 Club Series.

Grammy winner Kurt Elling is among the world's foremost jazz vocalists. He has won seven DownBeat Critics Poll in the last 10 years and has been named Male Singer of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association six times in that same span. Every one of Elling's 10 albums has been nominated for a Grammy; overall, he has received 12 nominations, winning the Best Jazz Vocal Album for Dedicated to You: Kurt Elling Sings the Music of Coltrane and Hartman in 2009. His repertoire includes original compositions and modern interpretations of standards, all of which are springboards for inspired improvisation, scatting, spoken work and poetry.

JazzTimes called Elling "the most influential jazz vocalist of our time," and with "Elling Swings Sinatra," he pays homage to the most legendary male vocalist of the 20th century in celebration of Sinatra's centenary. Elling lends his own voice to Sinatra's repertoire with reinterpretations of classic hits such as "Come Fly With Me," "In the Still of the Night" and "April in Paris." These ever-familiar tunes are transformed by Elling's vocal expertise and rich baritone that spans four octaves.
