Jonatha Brooke Announces New EP IMPOSTER Out 4/19

Acclaimed singer/songwriter Jonatha Brooke announced today the release of her new EP Imposter on April 19th via Bad Dog Records. Formerly of the New England-based folk-rock duo The Story, Jonatha also shared the lead single "Fire" from the forthcoming album. Parade Magazine stated "With 'Fire' songstress Jonatha Brooke lets her self-realized insights roll off her melodious tongue. This sing-song triumph is punctuated by insistent drums and intense horns and stars Brooke's highly expressive vocal chops."

"'Fire' is about that powerful confidence you earn heading in to your fifties," Jonatha told Parade Magazine. "You're old enough, accomplished enough to speak your mind without worrying what people think, but you're still playful enough and 'hot' enough to have some fun. It's about telling the truth, standing up for yourself loud and clear, and taking your place at the 'head of the table.'"

Of the EP, Jonatha stated "I explored a few different themes on Imposter; feeling like the emperor with no clothes, a very cinematic excursion into revenge, that ever present struggle with faith and loss. These are songs I developed and fell in love with over a longer period of time than usual, so I had the luxury that they turned out exactly as I had hoped and dreamed they would."

Jonatha Brooke has been writing songs, making records, and touring since the early 90's. After four major label releases, she started her own independent label in 1999 and has since released eight more albums including her most recent: 2016's Midnight. Hallelujah. Jonatha has co-written songs with Katy Perry and The Courtyard Hounds among others. She's also written for four Disney films and numerous television shows including composing/performing the theme song for Joss Whedon's Dollhouse. In 2014, Brooke debuted her one woman musical and companion album My Mother Has Four Noses at the Duke Theater in New York City. The show ran for three months to rave reviews and was a critic's pick in the New York Times who called it "both funny and wrenching."
