For a week this October, John Scofield brings this storied trio back to the Blue Note for its first appearance in several years.

John Scofield's guitar work has influenced jazz since the late '70s and is still at the vanguard of the art form today. Possessor of a very distinctive sound and incredible stylistic diversity, he is one of the "big three" guitarists active in jazz today (along with Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell). He is a masterful jazz improviser whose music generally falls somewhere between post-bop, funk-edged jazz, and R&B.

For much of his career, one of the cornerstones of John Scofield's music has been the John Scofield Trio. The group includes old friends and longtime musical partners, bassist Steve Swallow (bass) and drummer Bill Stewart (drums) – three great musicians hitting their stride through invention, playing tight jazz standards and savvy original compositions. Their music embodies the spirit that has kept jazz vigorous and visceral since its birth.

The trio will play Tuesday through Sunday, October 2 – 7, 8pm & 10:30pm at The Blue Note, 131 West 3rd Street, New York, NY. Tickets: $35 table seats, $20 at the bar.
