Jetset Getset Performs at Louisville's Phoenix Hill Tavern Tonight

Louisville's oldest nightclub will welcome one of the youngest musical groups ever to play there, when Jetset Getset takes the stage at the historic Phoenix Hill Tavern tonight, January 17.

The Indiana-based country music band, which recently released the album "Saturday Night" (Playback Records), has been compared by some critics to a younger version of the Dixie Chicks. The group is comprised primarily of teenagers: 15-year-old singers Tori Little, Avery Eliason and Sadie Loveland; lead guitarist Jason Owens, 16; rhythm guitarist Justen Jette, 15; bass guitarist Paul Kelley, 17; drummer Gillian Bowman, 13; and keyboard player Terry Ranck, the only adult who performers regularly with Jetset Getset.

Although younger artists have sung at Phoenix Hill Tavern's annual Great Chili Cookoff, Jetset Getset's appearance will mark the first time such a young group has performed on a regular evening, before an adult audience. It will also be the second concert performance with Jetset Getset by Bowman, who is from Boone County, Kentucky. She joined Jetset Getset after the band's previous drummer left for personal reasons.

"Gillian Bowman is amazing," said Kelli Jette, manager of Jetset Getset. "She is a 13-year-old girl who plays as well as most male drummers twice her age. We are very excited to have her in Jetset Getset."

Bowman's passion for drumming is not surprising. She is the Daughter of Ron and Kathy Bowman, owners of Bowman Music & Creative Outlet, a well-known music school in Burlington, Kentucky. She has been studying drums since the age of 4, under the tutelage of her father, who spent 20 years working with national acts such as The Tokens ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight"), Leslie Gore ("It's My Party") and The Reflections ("Just Like Romeo and Juliet").

"My parents have taught me everything they know," Bowman said. "I have also been inspired by seeing my dad drum at shows, and how my mom would sing back-up. They both are on the worship team at my Church and play almost every Sunday, with my dad as the drummer and my mom the singer/worship leader. They have encouraged me through all of my life."
