Stay up late and mark the end of summer at the Skirball Cultural Center's after-dark party Into the Night: The Wild Side tonight, August 30. The event, presenting live music, DJ sets, and more in the Skirball's magnificent outdoor courtyard, begins at 9:00 p.m.

The evening's headliner is local artist Jenny O., beloved for her insightful and courageous songwriting, which bears the hallmarks of luminaries like Ricky Lee Jones, Carole King, and Neil Young. Jenny O.'s recent full-length debut, Automechanic, featuring production by Jonathan Wilson (Will Oldham, Dawes) and an appearance by Father John Misty, has been hailed as "witty" and "impeccably crafted" by the press. Jenny O. takes the stage for this special hometown performance fresh off an East Coast tour with Night Beds.

The night also includes a set by L.A.-based duo In the Valley Below. Back from their European tour, the band promises to entrance the audience with atmospheric, dreamy songs off their new summer release, Peaches, and their popular Hymnal EP, the title track of which was chosen as a "top tune" by KCRW.

Local band Body Parts rounds out the evening with their angular eighties sound, described by the Los Angeles Times as "indebted to cerebral dance music makers such as Talking Heads and Dirty Projectors."

Concertgoers will also enjoy sets by KCRW DJs, cocktails, craft making with Julianna Parr from CraftNight, screenings of Dr. Seuss's The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T, and special after-hours activities in the Skirball's popular playspace, Noah's Ark at the Skirball.

Into the Night: The Wild Side is the second of the series in 2013. On July 12, bands Hunter Hunted and Harriet take the stage as part of Into the Night: Secrets and Truth. Last year, popular indie acts Sea Wolf and Geographer drew a packed house.
