The truth is always hard to deal with - hard to realize, hard to vocalize and hard to accept. Still, John Murry manages to bear his soul with the intense prowess of storytellers such asTom Waits or 'Masters of War'-era Bob Dylan. Combined with his sound howling of electricity, distortion and ornery, primal growl, the rabblerousing spirit of the MC5 and Patti Smith are breathing anew through Murry on both of these introspective records.
This sound will be brought to you live this fall, when John Murry hits the road with longtime fellow traveler Chuck Prophet (Green On Red) in support of his new EP, Califorlornia (out now) and the re-release of his critically acclaimed full-length album The Graceless Age. His new EP continues the evolution that began with The Graceless Age, showing off more modern rock curves and building on the buzzing, alive production direction he embarked on with the late Tim Mooney (American Music Club) on The Graceless Age. The EP is four tracks with three additional bonus tracks included as well. Two songs from the EP were co-written with Chuck Prophet (Green On Red), plus a cover of Warren Zevon's 'Genius,' and a tribute to Mooney called 'Timmy'. Additionally, John Murry's song 'California', from his 2014 album, The Graceless Age is featured in season seven of the FX hit show Sons of Anarchy (episode 7-06 first airing October 14 2014.) Sons of Anarchy is an adrenalized drama with darkly comedic undertones that explores a notorious outlaw motorcycle club's desire to protect its livelihood while ensuring that their simple, sheltered town of Charming, California remains exactly that, charming.Videos
