Groundwork Music Project is hosting an afternoon of music and fun at Nutty Brown Café on Sunday, October 19th from 3 to 7 p.m. The event will feature live music from two of Austin's biggest talents, Guy Forsyth and Dana Falconberry, as well as two of Austin's biggest up-and-comers, Painted Redstarts (William Harries Graham) and Peter Shults of Hello Wheels.

As always, the Fall Family FUNraiser will include children's games, a bouncy castle, face painting and balloon animals, and, as always, a performance from the Groundwork Music Orchestra whose acclaimed brand of family friendly music has made it an Austin staple. A silent auction will feature such exciting items as a Lake Travis lake house getaway, cases of wine, an elliptical machine and even a used truck, among many more items. Purchase of a ticket will also enter attendees into a raffle with chances of winning gift certificates to several of Austin's premier restaurants.

All proceeds from this event will go to the Groundwork Music Project, which enhances the lives of Austin's kids by providing free and low cost music classes, songwriting workshops and ukulele lessons to schools with limited means. Music is an essential element to the healthy development of children across a broad spectrum: emotional, cognitive, social and more. It is Groundwork Music Project's mission to ensure that music does not disappear from Austin's schools and kids' lives today.

Neal Kassanoff, the founder of Groundwork Music Project, has developed a canon of songs over many years while working with kids in Austin's schools. As Groundwork recordings and performances demonstrate, songs that reach young children can also have universal appeal. The material performed will be diverse, playful, and ever loyal to the elements of good songwriting and musicianship.

Check out Groundwork Music Orchestra's CD, Introducing the Groundwork Music Orchestra. This carefully crafted recording features songs co-written by Kassanoff and Ben Kweller, as well as great playing from veterans of the Austin music scene.
