Grammy Camp Jazz Session Students to Record Album at Legendary Capitol Studios

Thirty-two of the nation's best high school singers and musicians, representing 30 cities and 14 states across the United States, will participate in the 2017 GRAMMY Camp® - Jazz Session program, which is sponsored in part by the Ford Motor Company Fund. On Feb. 8, 10-11, courtesy of Capitol Studios, the young musicians will record an album (GRAMMY Jazz 25) at the legendary studios, located in the iconic Capitol Records Tower, in Hollywood, Calif. GRAMMY Camp - Jazz Session albums from 2007-2016 are available for purchase via online music outlets such as Amazon, iTunes and Rhapsody.

For the last 25 years the GRAMMY Foundation® has brought top high school singers and musicians to the host city of the annual GRAMMY Awards® to perform and record during GRAMMY Week as part of its GRAMMY Camp - Jazz Session program. These students have been hosted by Capitol Studios since 2005. The all-star performances on GRAMMY Jazz 25 will represent just one of the many activities the students will participate in during their stay in Los Angeles in 2017, including performances at a wide range of official GRAMMY Week events.

The album will be produced by GRAMMY Foundation Executive Education Director David R. Sears, recorded by Capitol Studios engineer Charlie Paakkari mixed by 20-time GRAMMY®-winning engineer Al Schmitt, and mastered by two-time GRAMMY winner Bernie Grundman. Schmitt will visit the students in the studio to offer professional insights. The GRAMMY Choir and GRAMMY Combo are directed by Dr. Ron McCurdy of the USC Thornton School of Music. The GRAMMY Band is directed by Justin DiCioccio of the Manhattan School of Music.
