"This year's musical theme for Hallelujah Praise connects the smooth R&B sounds of Motown with gospel music by focusing on songs from artists who successfully integrated the two styles," says Artistic Director, Gail Suderman. "Since many Motown artists of the 1960s sang in churches prior to launching successful pop careers, there is plenty of natural cross-over to be found. The music also provides a fun-filled energy that is sure to set a positive and inspiring tone for participants and audience members alike." Motown Meets Gospel is timely in that it takes place at the conclusion of Canada's own Black History Month in February. Motown artists will be celebrated through this uplifting afternoon performance that will feature hit tunes such as: Stevie Wonder's Have a Talk With God, Michael Jackson's Heal the World, Diana Ross' Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand, Billy Preston's That's the Way God Planned It, and Jackie DeShannon/David Ruffin's Put a Little Love in Your Heart.Good Noise Vancouver Gospel Choir (GNVGC) was founded by Artistic Director, Gail Suderman, in 2004. Over the years, the choir has been invited to perform alongside acclaimed artists such as Barbra Streisand, Holly Cole, David Foster, Josh Groban, Jim Byrnes, Dee Daniels, and more. The choir is renowned for its upbeat and inspiring annual concert season - garnering many sold out performances. In addition, they have recorded two successful CDs - both of which have been nominated for Covenant Awards (Canadian Gospel Music Awards). GNVGC has also appeared on numerous high-profile television shows on CBC, Bravo, Knowledge Network, Global TV, and most recently in a nationally-televised concert on Vision TV.
