Moderator Bill Flanagan
This long-out-of-print film, which was not broadcast in the U.S. on its release in 1967, is unique in that it was conceived and directed by the Beatles. In fact, few people have ever seen it in its entirety. The Paley Center, in association with Apple Films, is pleased to host a special screening of the newly restored film, now with a remixed soundtrack. It was considered confusing and disjointed by many of the older generation of fans when it was originally seen on British television at Christmas in 1967, but, 45 years later, this experimental film with a loose narrative is now considered way ahead of its time. Magical Mystery Tour features classic songs "I Am The Walrus," "The Fool on the Hill," "Blue Jay Way," and "Your Mother Should Know," as well as the catchy title track. After the screening a panel of illustrious artists will discuss the enduring legacy of the film and its importance in the Beatles canon.

"Old St. Nick's got bourbon breath/It's so cold you could catch your death/A cop sold me some crystal meth/It's a Merry F#%$in' Christmas."
So begins Denis Leary's irreverent, in-your-face holiday song "Merry F#%$in' Christmas"—the title track to his classic Christmas album and title of Comedy Central's annually aired holiday TV special. And now, with brand-new verses and original stop-motion-animation art, the dirty ditty is transformed into a classic children's picture book for adults that promises to warm everyone's spirits with a buttload of holiday cheer!
