Two suave and sophisticated stars -- Chris Isaak and Chris Botti -- share the stage with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a romantic evening of beautiful ballads and enchanting melodies, Friday and Saturday, July 11 and 12, at 8 pm.
The first half of the concert features Botti on trumpet, along with bandmates Billy Kilson, drums; Richie Goods, bass; Ben Butler, guitar; Geoffrey Keezer, piano; Sy Smith and George Komsky, vocals; and Caroline Campbell, violin, along with the LA Phil, led by Bramwell Tovey. Together they perform a set of ballads and standards including "Concierto de Aranjuez," "The Very Thought of You," "When I Fall in Love," and others.
Following intermission, Isaak takes the stage, performing vocals and on the guitar with his band Kenney Johnson, drums; Rafael Padilla, percussion; Scott Plunkett, keyboards; Rowland Salley, bass; and Hershel Yatovitz, lead guitar, along with the LA Phil and Tovey. Isaak's set features some of his popular hits including "Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing," "Wicked Game," and "Only the Lonely."
To close the concert, Isaak and Botti perform together.
In the course of Chris Isaak's career, he has released nine extraordinary albums, 12 singles, been nominated for two Grammy awards, acted in several motion pictures and starred in his own critically acclaimed TV series. His legendary shows with his longtime band Silvertone have entertained tens of thousands of people for over two decades. Even his hair has its own fan club. His latest CD, Beyond the Sun, has been described by the platinum-selling artist as the album he's always wanted to make, and is available in both the 14-song standard set as well as a double album version that includes an additional 11 tracks. In addition to making music and touring, Isaak continues acting, recently appearing in "Hot in Cleveland" and "Celebrity Bucket List." Earlier this year, he helped to induct Roy Orbison into the Musicians Hall of Fame. Isaak made his Hollywood Bowl and orchestral debut in 2008 when he appeared with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra led by Thomas Wilkins.
