Musical artist Carly Jamison has announced the release of her fourth and final Christmas single of the year. Unlike her previous three singles which were all self-penned, this fourth single is a cover of a Christmas classic.

"I knew I wanted to include a cover in this new batch of tunes, but I didn't want to do something that was covered a million times already." says Jamison. "I'm not a fan of covers that sound just like the original. I prefer to do my own versions and really make them my own."

For that cover, she chose "The Happiest Christmas Tree" which was originally recorded by Nat King Cole and released in 1959. "I wanted to do an angry rock version of it", she says, "but Tres Sasser, my producer, wanted me to do a cover of a Ramones Christmas song. In the end, we were inspired to combine both ideas and do a cover of the Nat King Cole song in the style of The Ramones. We think it worked out really well."

"I loved the idea of Carly doing a Ramones song", says Sasser. "Both being New Yorkers, I've always felt that she's cut from the same rock and roll fabric as they were, so this is punk rock Christmas ... Carly style. This song is also completely different from the other three Christmas singles which really shows her diversity as an artist."

In a nod to The Ramones, the New York City punk scene, and classic animated Christmas specials, the video for the song includes an animated gingerbread man performing live at CBGB's, the legendary punk rock venue.

Recorded at The Sound Shelter in Franklin, TN, players on the project include Chris Tench on guitars, Tres Sasser on bass, and Nate Moran on drums and percussion. It was engineered by Brett Ryan Stewart and mixed by Joe Costa (known for his work with Ben Folds, Ke$ha, and Brad Paisley) at The Sound Shelter. Mastering was done by Andrew Mendelson at Georgetown Masters who has worked on dozens of Grammy winning, gold and platinum projects by artists including The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Willie Nelson, Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum and many others.
