Chvrches are a Scottish electronic band, formed in 2011. The group consists of Lauren Mayberry (lead vocals, additional synthesizers and samplers), Iain Cook (synthesizers, guitar, bass, vocals), and Martin Doherty (synthesizers, samplers, vocals).

After seemingly coming out of nowhere in 2012 with their debut singles "Lies" and "The Mother We Share", their synthpop sound has been praised by fans and critics alike, ranking fifth on the BBC's Sound of 2013 list of the most promising new music talent. Their longed-for debut album "The Bones of What You Believe" did nothing to simmer fan excitement in 2013. The album is characterized by a combination of passion and restraint, with Cook and Doherty often withholding their vocal and lyrical wizardry to let the melodies speak for themselves. That subtle balance is the sound of experience - three musicians who are endlessly excited by the sound they have discovered, but clearly in it for the long haul.
