While their new album is titled White Flag, San Francisco's Branches are nowhere near surrendering. A band that originally began with a banjo-filled twang, Branches are now excitedly expanding their sound with an earnest and bright indie pop joy.

"It awakened something in us, and inspired a lot of the energy and excitement that made its way on to White Flag," said guitarist Tyler Goerzen of the track "Look Out Below", previously debuted HERE by American Songwriter.

Branches is now releasing "Burn", their final track to be issued before White Flag is made available in full on September 16th. You can listen to it HERE.

"This record is about surrender, and the recognition that there is a right time and a wrong time to surrender, said the band. "It's easy to throw in the towel when things get hard. It's easy to walk out when our person stops making us happy. It's easy to let the embers turn to ash, rather than putting in the work to keep them burning warm and bright. But the easy thing is very rarely the right thing."

Branches' 2012 debut record Thou Art The Dream allowed Branches to perform with Mutemath, DEVO, Milo Greene, Joseph and the Ying-Yang Twins (yes, seriously) and songs from the album were featured on the TV shows Cougar town, One Tree Hill andParenthood as well as film trailers for Cake, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Love is Strange.

Looking forward, White Flag utilizes every instrument in Branches' arsenal. Pre-order the album HERE. Plus, catch them on September 16th at The Troubador in Los Angeles.
