Bringing an array of over 20 singers, a live 14 piece orchestra and foot-stomping, exuberant choreography to set the stage a fire, Bishop Townsley's Jubilee is back by popular demand at the Centenary Stage Company. This musical revue was the most talked about event of the 2011 season, now audiences can see what all the fuss was about as this entertaining, high octane group of performers return for a night of song and dance on Saturday, February 8th at 8 p.m.

The Jubilee's repertoire includes African Chants, Negro Spirituals, and Jubilee Songs as well as Jazz, Pop, Broadway and Hip Hop music of today. Everything from classic Jazz favorites and modern popular music are mixed together in a dynamic feel-good show that has the audience on their feet screaming for more. Coinciding with Black History Month, concert-goers can follow the historical journey of the jubilant music at the heart of Blues and R&B, going back to the Civil War era to today in a celebration audiences won't want to miss.

The show's creator Bishop Nathaniel Townsley, Jr. was a child musical prodigy, serving as the church organist and choir director at age 14. He has inspired and trained musicians and vocalists, some of whom went on to successful gospel and secular careers, such as Ben Vereen. Bishop Townsley graduated from the High School of Performing Arts in New York City, holds a B.S. from the College of New Rochelle, and Master of Theological Studies from Logos Bible College. The crowning glory of Bishop Townsley's 45 years of innovative music ministry is his pioneering work in stage musicals of which he has composed and written four. In 2013, Bishop Townsley received an AUDELCO Award for Special Lifetime Achievement. AUDELCO was established in 1973 to stimulate interest in and support of the performing arts in black communities. Bishop Townsley is the Senior Pastor of St. Mark Holy Church of America, located in Brooklyn, NY, known as Brooklyn's Gospel Landmark.
