Beware Of Darkness Drop New Single 'Are You Real?'

In anticipation of their new album Are You Real? out September 16th via Bright Antenna Records, LA-based Beware Of Darkness drop the title track "Are You Real?" today via All Things Go. The track is set for digital release tomorrow, Friday 9/2.

A follow up to acclaimed singles "Dope" and "Muthafa", "Are You Real?" is energy-packed, highlighted by growling guitars and frontman Kyle Nicolades' trademark howl. Speaking about the track, he comments:

"Sometimes If I'm lucky I'll find a song and I obsessively listen to it. We were in the last couple days of the demo process, had already cut around 45 songs for the new LP over the course of 3 weeks, and had one more real day to cut a new song. Only problem was I didn't have any more songs. At the time I was obsessively listening to "Walk Like An Egyptian" by The Bangles. We needed a song to record the next day that I didn't have, so I was dead tired from recording all day, got home, turned on my Tempest, and crafted Are You Real? in about 30 minutes. It's got the same structure as "Walk Like An Egyptian" and I wanted the vibe to be a sort of fight / challenge song in the vein of "Bad" or "Beat It" by Michael Jackson. The entire song was written without guitars."

Are You Real? is the band's biggest and boldest statement yet. The 12-track collection serves as an urgent call to arms not only for Nicolaides, but for the band's sound as well. The music ushers the rebirth of a sound that is as refreshing as it is addictive, and goes much deeper than riffs. The band just wrapped up a series of select dates with Eagles Of Death Metal, kicked off a west-coast headlining tour, and will soon hit the road with The Struts. Stay tuned for more!
