Cedar Fort Entertainment announced today that it will be releasing "Wayward: The Prodigal Son," on Nov. 7, 2014, in over 25 select faith-based markets.

"Wayward: The Prodigal Son," tells the story of Tyler McMillan, a pampered rich kid who gets it all and almost loses everything, including his own life.

"We all know someone who has GONE astray," said Spencer Harden, the film acquisition manager at Cedar Fort. "Every parent hopes it won't happen to their child, but they grow up with minds of their own."

With all the success of films like "God's Not Dead" ($60 million box office) and "Heaven is for Real" ($91 million box office), more theaters want films with moral messages and faith-related themes.

"Film buyers are booking 'Wayward: The Prodigal Son' in many faith-based markets," said Harden. "We have locked in many theaters in Utah, Upstate New York, South Carolina, and California, to name a few."

According to Harden, new markets and theaters are coming on board every day.
About "Wayward: The Prodigal Son"

A modern-day telling of a Biblical parable, "Wayward: The Prodigal Son" is not a new story. However, filmmaker Rob Diamond does say, "the film offers a few surprises," including allusions to the parable of the lost sheep, which is also in Luke 15 of the Bible.

"I made 'Wayward: The Prodigal Son' because the Biblical story has always touched a deep place in my soul," Diamond said. "I have been on the receiving end of forgiveness many times for the mistakes I've made in my life. It's the perfect story of love, redemption and forgiveness."

Can we really get a second chance when we've strayed so far? Is there hope? "Wayward: The Prodigal Son" answers these questions but also reminds us that salvation comes to us through great sacrifice.

When asked for whom he made the movie, Diamond said, "My Maker first and foremost. But I also made it for anyone who loves stories of redemption and for those seeking some hope and forgiveness in their lives or the lives of the people they cherish most who might be hurting inside."
