Dark horror-thriller THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2: ANGEL OF DEATH hits theaters today! The film is a sequel to the 2012 hit THE WOMAN IN BLACK starring Daniel Radcliffe.

Set in London during the Blitz of World War II, the story follows a young schoolteacher who retreats with her students to an estate on the British countryside. But when the children begin acting strangely, the teacher realizes dark forces must be at work in their makeshift home.

THE WOMAN IN BLACK 2 stars Phoebe Fox, Jeremy Irvine, Helen McCrory, Adrian Rawlins, and Leanne Best. The franchise stems from Susan Hill's novella 'The Woman in Black'.

Let's see what the critics had to say!

Ben Kenigsberg, New York Times: ...the director, Tom Harper, seems less interested in allegory than in monotonous, conventional goosing, the kind that involves flickering lights and a creaky rocking chair.

Scott Foundas, Variety: The idea of setting a horror story against the real-life horrors of England during WWII certainly holds promise, but if the first "Woman in Black" was laudable for its slow-burn intensity, "Angel of Death" is more of a slow lukewarm.

Jordan Hoffman, New York Daily News: Teen horror buffs will be bored but design majors and sketchpad artists may find themselves inspired.

Bilge Ebiri, Vulture: Even for those of us who remember the plot of the first Woman in Black, this new one has a curious vagueness to it, as if the filmmakers couldn't really be bothered to tell us much about why anything is happening.

Ed Gonzalez, Slant Magazine: ...in its final mad rush to subject audiences to every incarnation of the jump scare imaginable, and to bring all subtext to the fore and tie together all loose ends, the film only ends up cheapening the sense of empathy it so handsomely and bravely summoned up to this point.

Alonso Duralde, The Wrap: "The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death" is the kind of horror movie where you can see the smart, stylish scare film that's constantly being obscured by cheap and easy jolts.

Leigh Singer, IGN: By no means a disaster, The Woman in Black: Angel of Death's very adequateness is its own cautionary tale. The need to keep a franchise BREATHING but stable, cuts off the new possibilities to make it come thrillingly alive.

Jimmy O, JoBlo: While it may be slightly predictable, this is an atmospheric - and classically inspired - haunted house tale that manages a decent fright or two.
