Deadline reports that Patton Oswalt will host the Film Independent's 29th SPIRIT AWARDS on March 1, 2014. The annual event will be held on the beach in Santa Monica. Nominations for the 2014 awards will be announced November 26.

"Patton is an incredibly talented writer, actor and comedian whose irreverent humor is the perfect fit for our show," Spirit Awards executive producer Diana Zahn-Storey commented.

The comedian, writer, actor and voice actor is best known for roles such as Spencer Olchin in the sitcom The King of Queens and for voicing Remy in the film Ratatouille. He will soon be seen in Ben Stiller's The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty and currently narrates ABC's freshman comedy The Goldbergs.
