Laura Dern & Judd Apatow Partner for Female Football Fan Film for Universal

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Judd Apatow and Laura Dern are partnering for a new comedy, which has just been nabbed by Universal Pictures.

The project is an "untitled female-driven ensemble comedy set in the world of obsessive female football fans."

TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE and SOUTH PARK writer Pam Brady penned the film's script. Dern and Apatow will also executive produce.

Dern is a three-time Golden Globe Award winner, and has been nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Rambling Rose as well as several Emmy Awards. Other notable appearances by Dern include Blue Velvet, Citizen Ruth and Jurassic Park. She starred as Amy Jellicoe in HBO's television series Enlightened. Dern's recent film projects include Wild and 99 Homes.

Judd Apatow is the mastermind behind television shows such as Undeclared, Freaks and Geeks, and Girls. His work in mainstream comedy extends back to the early 90's with co-production and writing credits for Ben Stiller and Jim Carrey's comedy television specials. Today, he has a hand in new-age comedy classics such as Knocked Up, Bridesmaids, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Cable Guy, and more. His recent projects include Anchorman 2 and Trainwreck.
