Lakeshore Records releases the THE CALL - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on March 12th and in stores today, April 16, 2013. John Debney (TV's Hatfields & McCoys, The Passion of the Christ) composed the original score.

Academy Award-nominated John Debney seemed destined for a career in Hollywood. The son of Disney Studios producer Louis Debney (Zorro, The Mickey Mouse Club), Debney grew up in nearby Glendale, where he began guitar lessons at age six and played in rock bands in college. After college, he entered into the business with the help of television composing legend Mike Post (The Rockford Files, Law and Order). Debney furthered his hands-on training by working with Hanna-Barbera composer Hoyt Curtin. He began scoring television projects as diverse as Star Trek: The Next Generation, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo and Sea Quest DSV, for which he won an Emmy for Best Main Title. In 1993 he secured his first studio feature film, the Disney comedy Hocus Pocus starring Bette Midler.

Although Debney had built an industry reputation as a talented film composer, with films as The Princess Diaries 1&2 , Raising Helen, Spy Kids 1&2, Elf, and Bruce Almighty, it was in 2004 that the rest of the world discovered him. Blending symphonic orchestra, a wide range of world instruments and the beauty of the human voice, Debney's landmark score for The Passion of the Christ would earn him an Academy Award nomination, a Gold record and a Dove award.

John Debney continues to receive accolades for his outstanding work. Last year, he received a Prime Time Emmy nomination for his work on the miniseries Hatfields and McCoys. In 2005, he became the youngest recipient of ASCAP's prestigious Henry Mancini Lifetime Achievement Award. Debney has again broken new ground composing for the videogames Lair (2007) and The Sims Medieval (2011). His Lair music was nominated for a BAFTA and he was awarded Best Videogame Score by The International Film Music Critics Association. John Debney's recent accomplishments include scoring the Steve Jobs biopic jOBS. Debney is currently in the studio writing the score to Mary Mother of Christ.

"I wanted to create a visceral, nasty electronic score for this intense film. Brad Anderson is a director of uncommon vision and we worked very closely on every moment of the music," said Debney of his work on The Call. "This was new-ish territory for me but I absolutely relished the adventure."

To achieve this vision, Debney explained, "My inspiration came from the work of Trent Reznor, Cevin Key, Rage and many other electronic artists."

When veteran 911 operator, Jordan (Halle Berry), takes a life-altering call from a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted, she realizes that she must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl's life.

"There is a central emotional theme of sorts which highlights the emotional arc between Halle and Abigail. The theme or string motif presents itself about 3 times in the film," described Debney. "I wanted to create an overall soundscape however. One at once disturbing and unsettling. Harsh and jarring. Animalistic and suspenseful. That is how I would best describe the approach."

TriStar Pictures and Stage 6 Films present in association with Troika Pictures, WWE Studios and Amasia Entertainment, A Troika Pictures and WWE Studios production, The Call, starring Halle Berry (Monster's Ball, Cloud Atlas), Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, New Year's Eve), Morris Chestnut (Identity Thief, Think Like a Man), Michael Eklund (The Divide), and Michael Imperioli ("The Sopranos"). Brad Anderson (The Machinist), directed the screenplay written by Richard D'Ovidio (Exit Wounds, Thir13en Ghosts), from a story written by Richard D'Ovidio & Nicole D'Ovidio & Jon Bokencamp (Perfect Stranger).

Jeff Graup, Michael J. Luisi, Robert L. Stein, Michael A. Helfant, and Bradley Gallo are the film's producers. William C. Gallo, Philip M. Cohen, Dale Rosenbloom and Guy J. Louthan are executive producers.
