Variety reports that Keanu Reeves has signed on to star in the new sci-fi thriller REPLICAS for Lotus Entertainment and di Bonaventura Pictures.

Tanya Wexler will direct the project from a screenplay by Chad St. John, based on a treatment developed by Stepehen Hamel and Reeves.

The actor will portray "a neuroscientist whose family is killed in a traffic accident and will stop at nothing to bring them back - pitting himself against a government-controlled laboratory, a police task force and the physical laws of science."

Commented producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura , "From my experience working with Keanu on 'The Matrix' franchise through our collaboration on 'Constantine,' I have always been impressed by Keanu's ability to bring a genuine level of humanity to the sci-fi genre through his performance. I am looking forward to collaborating with Keanu once again on this unique take on what lengths a person will go to alter the past, and the implications of those actions."

Reeves now stars in John Wick, in theaters. He recently starred in Ronin 47 and Man of Tai Chi. He is also known for The Matrix trilogy, Generation Um..., The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Lake House, and more.
