Is Jack Sparrow finally ready to hang up his sword? In an interview with the BBC this morning, 'Pirates of the Carribean' star Johnny Depp revealed that while he's not "dropping out any second," his plans for an early retirement are on the horizon so that he may pursue "quieter" pursuits.

The star, who currently takes on the role of Tonto in the Disney's 'The Lone Ranger,' recently shared similar sentiments with Rolling Stone magazine. Noting that he speaks more words written by others than his own natural communications, he acknowledged, "You start thinking about that as kind of an insane option for a human being."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, today's statements made headlines around the world, including such remote locations as TVNZ in New Zealand. The actor is currently on a global media blitz, promoting the Disney reboot which proved to be a bona fide flop with U.S. audiences .
