ANNE OF GREEN GABLES: THE MUSICAL will soon be heading to the big screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Film Farm and Side Road Media have turned to playwright Kirsten Thomson to adapt Lucy Maud Montgomery 1908 children's book for film - just in time for the stage production's 50th anniversary.

"With the 50th anniversary of this beloved musical classic coming in 2014, it is the perfect time for a feature film version," said Side Road's Kelley Harron in a statement released today.
