CASA GRANDE, Writer/ Director Fellipe Barbosa's ("Laura") widely acclaimed international success, will have it's highly anticipated US debut on Friday, November 13 at The Cinema Village from Cinema Slate as well as debut streaming live on Fandor on November 13. A gripping and fascinating look Brazil's social strata, and one privileged and wealthy family's fall from grace, "Casa Grande" has become one of Brazil's biggest hits of the decade.

Jean (Thales Cavalcanti) is a prep school senior from a wealthy family who, while contemplating college, would rather spend time with his equally wealthy friends. Jean's father Hugo, (Marcello Novaes), however, is hiding a big secret: his hedge-fund company has slowly begun to go under, and symptoms of their financial downfall become more apparent amidst their previously affluent lifestyle. Servants are fired; Jean's mother, Sonia (Suzanna Pires) takes a job selling cosmetics; Jean becomes on the outs with several of his classmates when their parents complain that the floundering hedge fund is responsible for their lost fortunes.

As Jean's tuition goes unpaid and he worries about his prospects for college, he meets and begins a relationship with Luiza (Bruna Amara), a mixed-race lower middle-class girl he meets on the bus. As his family's wealth crumbles, Jean begins to see, for the very first time, a life beyond the superficial wealth that is father still so desperately clings to.

A beautifully observed and acted story of class distinctions, race relations and family conflict, "Casa Grande" is exceptional on all levels.
