Deadline reports that Ed Harris has signed on to take on the role of 'King Cymbeline' in Michael Almereyda's CYMBELINE, described as a modern day adaption of Shakespeare's classic play. The actor will join previously announced cast member Ethan Hawke on the film scheduled to begin on August 19 in New York City.

CYMBELINE will follow "a battle between dirty cops and a drug dealing biker gang set in a corruption-riddled 21st century America." The original play focused on the daughter of the British king Cymbeline, who discovers she has secretly married a man raised in her father's court, resulting in his banishment from the court.

Michael Almereyda will write and direct the film with Anthony Katagas producing along with Michael Benaroya.

Harris has directed a number of Theater Productions and starred in the production of Neil LaBute's one-man play Wrecks at The Public Theater. Other theater credits include Taking Sides and Precious Sons. He will soon be seen on the big screen in Snowpiercer from The Weinstein Company. Other film and TV credits include The Right Stuff and HBO's Game Change.
