Acclaimed novelist Chelsea Quinn Yarbro will be presented with the Life Achievement Award at this year's World Fantasy Convention, to be held November 6th-9th in Washington, D.C. Yarbro, along with award-winning editor Ellen Datlow, will receive this honor on Sunday, November 9th.

"I'm delighted to receive this award - it is an honor to be named among the many excellent colleagues who have been recipients of it, as well as to join Ellen Datlow as this year's honorees," said Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.

A professional writer since 1968, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro has sold over 80 books in a variety of genres. She is best known for her historical novels featuring the vampires Count Saint-Germain, Atta Olivia Clemens and Madelaine de Montalia. Her Saint-Germain Cycle is the longest-running series of vampire novels to date. Sustenance, #27 in the series, will be released nationwide by Tor Books on December 2. Copies will be available at the convention.

Yarbro's other works of fantasy, horror and science fiction include Arcane Wisdome, Ariosto, A Baroque Fable, False Dawn, Magnificat, A Mortal Glamour, To the High Redoubt and The Vildecaz Talents.

In 1997 the Transylvanian Society of Dracula bestowed a literary knighthood on Yarbro, and in 2003 the World Horror Association presented her with a Grand Master award. In 2006 the International Horror Guild enrolled her among their Living Legends, the first woman to be so honored; the Horror Writers Association gave her a Life Achievement Award in 2009.

She makes her home in the San Francisco Bay Area.
