Milos Forman's critically acclaimed film adaptation of Peter Shaffer's 1979 Broadway hit Amadeus transports viewers to the visually lavish and musical world of one of the most prolific composers of all time on Reel 13 in December.

The film tells the story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart recalled by his peer and secret rival Antonio Salieri from the insane asylum where the latter resides. The film won eight out of the eleven Academy Awards for which it was nominated, including "Best Picture," "Best Actor," "Best Director" and "Best Costume Design," as well as four BAFTA Awards, four Golden Globes and a Director's Guild of America award.

Angel's Crest (with DOWNTON ABBEY star Elizabeth McGovern) and Ondine are the month's featured independent films.

The series is pre-empted on both December 6 and 13 for special pledge programming.
Every Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m., viewers can catch a Hollywood Classic hosted by film historian Neal Gabler, followed by an Indie, hosted by Columbia University professor Richard Peña. The evening concludes with a Short film selected by viewers who vote for their favorite of three shorts at Reel13.org.
