After rumors in May, it's official! TheWrap reports that INTO THE WOODS prince Chris Pine will play 'Steve Trevor' opposite Gal Gadot in Warner Bros. upcoming WONDER WOMAN movie, helmed by Patty Jenkins.

Pine's character will act as both a love interest for Diana Prince (Gadot) and a key player in the plot with "plenty of action to keep him busy."

According to Variety's previous report, "Steve Trevor was an intelligence officer in the United States Army during World War II whose plane crashed on Paradise Island, the isolated homeland of the Amazons. He was nursed back to health by the Amazon princess Diana, who fell in love with him and followed him when he returned to the outside world. There she became Wonder Woman (and also his coworker, Diana Prince)."

Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, are producing WONDER WOMAN, which has a script from PAN's Jason Fuchs.

Wonder Woman will make an appearance in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE before WONDER WOMAN hits theaters in 2017.

Pine will soon be seen in STAR TREK: BEYOND, WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER: FIRST DAY OF CAMP on Netflix, and Z FOR ZACHARIAH, as well as Disney's THE FINEST HOURS and COMANCHERIA. He recently starred as 'Cinderella's Prince' in Disney's INTO THE WOODS and has also appeared in JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT, the STAR TREK films and more.
