Hayley Atwell has had the enviable fortune to portray Agent Peggy Carter in the Marvel universe, which includes the Captain America films, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER, the MARVEL ONE SHOT: AGENT CARTER short film, and now she helps expand her story in the MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER series on ABC.

In this series, Peggy sees peace and has to balance her day to day life, while going on secret missions. It may be set in 1946, but there is nothing old fashioned about this agent, who goes on secret missions, brings down bad guys, and does it all while wearing an amazing wardrobe. What is it like playing Peggy and bringing more of her story to life?

It's a dream. It was such a wonderful experience playing her in the first Cap, and the second, and even the one shot, so to hear that there was enough interest from the fans to make something like this was a dream. It's the gift that keeps on giving and keeps on coming back and changing my life for the better.

Marvel has a lot of strong female characters, and seems to have made it a priority to develop the female super heroes, of which I include Peggy. How do you feel about Peggy's character development?

It's a privilege to think that this is a character to have an impact on younger women is great. I think what she stands for is pretty fantastic, she is not feminist in that she doesn't like men, but that she thinks her place is right beside them instead of behind them.

This chapter of Peggy's story comes just after n the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers/Captain America. Peggy now works for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), which is the key that turns into the S.H.I.E.L.D that we all know and love in present day. How is this highlighted in the new series?

We know what she is capable of in the workplace, but I'd like to see the emotional and psychological cost of her as a woman dealing with compromising her relationships all the time in order to save other people and make sure she's not putting other people in danger, all the while still grieving the love of her life. There is something to be said for a woman who is seen as very strong, yet there is a cost of that.

MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER has its two hour premiere on Tuesday, Jaunary 6th at 8pm. Don't miss this series and see what is next fo the formidable Agent Peggy Carter!
