After an exciting first season, Sutton Theatres is proud to announce its spring 2016 season of West End transfers, high profile comedians and new circus work alongside local community pieces.

Beri Juraic, Executive Director of Sutton Theatres, says: "When selecting the programme for our second season, we wanted to bring some of the excitement of experiencing 'liveness'." This is clearly echoed in Sutton Theatres' first production to transfer from the West End -- Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, where the audience make suggestions to the cast who create a live musical on the spot.

We are also bringing you some classic Shakespearean magic in Pocket Dream by Propeller, and we welcome the Reduced Shakespeare Company with their complete (abridged) version of all Shakespeare's plays in just 97 minutes. In March, we also welcome the West End adaptation of Michael Rosen's award-winning book We're Going On A Bear Hunt.

We're also proud to play host to some of the biggest stars in comedy, with new tours from Rob Beckett, Lee Nelson, Steve Hall, Richard Herring, Mark Steel, Iain Sterling and more coming to our stages!

For those seeking something entirely different, awe-inspiring contemporary circus comes to Sutton with Opus 7, French circus company Circa Tsuica's combination of live music with acrobatics, whilst company Bikes and Rabbits' offer the highly inventive These Books Are Made for Walking, which combines circus skills with theatre.

At The Cryer (39 High Street, Carshalton SM5 3BB), we have several magical treats for young and old and our newly created space, Back Door @ The Secombe (42 Cheam Road, Sutton SM1 2SS) is again host to cutting-edge theatre, comedy clubs and live gigs!

Join us in making the theatre magical again right on your doorstep! For more information, visit www.suttontheatres.co.uk.

'I Love To Boogie' with T-Rextasy

Saturday 16th January, 7:30pm Tickets: £20

In 1973 a record was released which would bridge the generation gap and become a rock anthem to both young and old - 20th Century Boy was written and composed by Marc Bolan who, with his band T-Rex, was one of the most flamboyant and charismatic of the original glam rock era. With Bolan's special ingredient of Rock-a-Boogie and songs throughout the 1970s including Telegram Sam and Jeepster, he was able to obtain what would be yet another Top 20 record later in 1976 that has since become one of the most memorable and everlasting signature tunes; I Love To Boogie.

T-Rextasy have now been performing for over 20 years, a career that ironically outlives Marc's very own T-Rex. The band is now accepted as the world's only official live tribute band dedicated to Marc Bolan and T-Rex, and the only band endorsed and approved by Marc Bolan's family, estate, original ex-members of T-Rex and Bolan's catalogue management. The band has been described by many as 'beyond the boundaries of tribute'.

Truly a rock n' roll concert for all ages - if you'd like to know exactly what a Marc Bolan concert was like in the 1970s, this show is for you!

Richard Herring - Happy Now?

Friday 29th April, 8:00pm
Tickets: £17.50
Recommended for those aged 16+

After years of drifting aimlessly and alone, Richard Herring is now settled down with a wife and a tiny baby. Is he finally happy now? Or does responsibility for the lives of others come with its own terrors?

In his twelfth solo stand up show, Richard examines whether we are can ever hope to be or are meant to be truly content. If we were never unhappy would happiness have any meaning? Why do our brains force us to envision the worst possible outcomes even on a day when everything seems fine. How likely is it that Richard's baby will be skewered by a stalactite of frozen urine falling from a plane and is it really worth him wasting his time thinking about it?

Does being happy mean a comedian loses his edge and true belly laughs only come from depression? How much pressure was there on Happy the dwarf to live up to his name? Is there any system that will guarantee us eternal bliss or should we just embrace the fact that life is a vale of tears and our only option is to laugh in its face?

Mark Steel: Who Do I Think I Am?

Saturday 14th May, 8:00pm
Tickets: £17.50 (Prices inclusive of a £1 booking fee and £1.50 Restoration Levy per ticket)

It never really bothered me that I'd never met my mum.

It never occurred to me I needed to meet her to 'find out who I was', as it didn't seem likely I'd discover I was someone different to who I thought I was. Could it turn out I was three stone lighter than I thought, or I spoke Italian or supported Arsenal or had a fear of Liquorice Allsorts?

But after the birth of my own son, I realised it's quite an event to have a child, and she may well remember giving birth to me, and maybe even the adoption.

See Mark Steel in his newest stand up show, a surprising and enthralling story told with aplomb. Previously, Mark has written and presented Mark Steel's In Town on BBC Radio 4 and toured it live around the UK. Mark has presented the BAFTA nominated Mark Steel Lectures for BBC2, is a regular on BBC One's Have I Got News For You and Radio 4's Newsquiz. He's also appeared on BBC2's QI and Room 101. Edward Bond is widely regarded as the UK's greatest and most influential playwright. He is the author of some fifty plays, among them Saved (1965), the production of which was instrumental in the abolition of theatre censorship in the UK.

His other plays include The Pope's Wedding (Royal Court Theatre, 1962), Early Morning (Royal Court, 1968), Lear (Royal Court, 1971), The Sea (Royal Court, 1973), The Fool (Royal Court, 1975), The Woman (National Theatre, 1978), Restoration (Royal Court, 1981) and The War Plays (RSC at the Barbican Pit, 1985).
