Screening of 1955 DADDY LONG LEGS Film to be Held at Davenport Theatre

Producers Ken Davenport and Michael Jackowitz announced today that Daddy Long Legs will host a screening of the 1955 film adaptation of Jean Webster's classic 1912 novel Daddy Long Legs on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 8:00 pm at the Davenport Theatre (354 West 45th Street). Additionally, every audience member attending the screening will receive an exclusive discount to see the live musical version of Daddy Long Legs, playing at the Davenport Theatre.

Film legend Fred Astaire becomes both benefactor and suitor of Leslie Caron in this charming story of a playboy who falls under the spell of a beautiful French orphan. Featuring imaginative production numbers and a Johnny Mercer score that includes the 1955 Oscar -nominated hit for Best Song "Something's Gotta Give", Daddy Long Legs is a song-filled blend of dance and fantasy for romantics of all ages. The new musical Daddy Long Legs recently made history as the first ever Broadway or Off-Broadway performance to be broadcast over the Internet free of charge. Daddy Long Legs currently stars the real-life husband and wife duo of Megan McGinnis and Adam Halpin. DADDY LONG LEGS tells the extraordinary tale of Jerusha Abbott (McGinnis), the oldest orphan in the John Grier Home. One day, a rich, anonymous benefactor (Halpin) decides to send her to college, but she must write him a letter once a month. Unaware of his identity, she invents a nickname for him: Daddy Long Legs. Through her brilliant and witty letters, Jerusha shares her experiences of college while discovering her own identity and reveling in the wonders of literature, adventure and love. But one key fact eludes her - who is Daddy Long Legs?

DADDY LONG LEGS premiered at the Rubicon Theatre Company in 2009, and has had acclaimed productions throughout the United States as well as international productions in Canada, Tokyo and London's West End. The show was originally produced by a consortium that includes the Rubicon Theatre Company, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and TheatreWorks Palo Alto, The Gem Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Skylight Music Theatre, and David Elzer.
