NBC's THIS IS US, THE VOICE Are Top 2 Non-Sports Shows of Tuesday Night

NBC is the top non-sports network of the night among the Big 4 in 18-49, taking six of six half-hours among entertainment shows on those nets. "This Is Us" and "The Voice" rank as the #1-2 non-sports shows of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49, while "Chicago Fire" matched the top rating for a 10 p.m. drama on ABC, CBS or NBC over the past two weeks. Note that the NBC station in Portland carried NBA basketball.


"This Is Us" (2.4/7 in 18-49, 8.7 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET): For a third week in a row has built on its "Voice" lead-in in 18-49 (2.4 vs. 2.1).

Remains the only scripted show ever to build on an original "Voice" lead-in in 18-49 (excludes "Voice" recaps).

Is the #1 non-sports show of the night on the Big 4 networks in 18-49.

In five weeks has now delivered the five highest ratings among all telecasts of the 10 first-year dramas on the Big 4 networks so far this season (L+SD).

On a night of competition from Game 1 of the Cubs-Indians WORLD SERIES on FOX and the opening night of the NBA season on TNT, retains 92% week to week in 18-49 (2.4 vs. 2.6) and 89% in total viewers (8.670 million vs. 9.705 million).

Is the slot's #1 non-sports telecast on the Big 4 over CBS's "Bull" by a +60% margin in 18-49 (2.4 vs. 1.5).

Will add substantial viewership via time-shifting and VOD - last week's "This Is Us" grew by +55% in 18-49 (from a 2.64 rating to a 4.10) and +3.6 million viewers overall (9.7 million to 13.3 million) going from L+SD to L+3, for the biggest lifts of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 rating (+1.46) and total viewers (+3.632 million).

Facebook / Twitter: The Sept. 20 debut of "This Is Us" delivered the most Facebook and Twitter activity of any new series premiere on any network so far this fall, with a total of 383,000 interactions the night of the show's premiere, to top the 290,000 total for this fall's #2 debut, E Network's "Rob & Chyna."

Upscale: "This Is Us" is delivering a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 135 among adults 18-49 living in $100K+ homes

"Chicago Fire" (1.6/6 in 18-49, 6.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET): Maintains 100% week to week in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.6), despite WORLD SERIES / NBA competition

Equals last week's 1.6, the highest 18-49 rating for any of 25 ABC-CBS-NBC 10 p.m. drama telecasts over the past two weeks (best since its own 1.8 on Oct. 11).
Ranks #1 among non-sports programs on the Big 4 in the time period in adults 18-49, marking "Fire's" 33rd consecutive time-period win in 18-49 versus regular ABC-CBS competition in the 10-11 p.m. slot when in originals, dating back to February 2015.
In adults 18-49, beats "NCIS: New Orleans" by a +23% margin (1.6 vs. 1.3) and "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." by +100% (1.6 vs. 0.8).

Will add substantial viewership via time-shifting and VOD - last week's "Fire" grew by +52% in 18-49 (1.65 to 2.51) and +3.0 million viewers overall (7.4 million to 10.4 million) going from L+SD to L+3.

Upscale: "Fire" is generating a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 110 among adults 18-49 living in $100K+ homes.

"The Voice" (2.1/7 in 18-49, 9.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET): Versus the start of the first WORLD SERIES game for the Chicago Cubs in 71 years, remained the #2 non-sports show of the night on the Big 4, behind only "This Is Us."

Is the #1 entertainment telecast of the night on the Big 4 in men 18-34 (tie) and men 18-49.

Ranks #1 in the slot among non-sports programs on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and nearly every other key demographic.

Is up +17% versus where the show ended its prior cycle (2.1 vs. 1.8 in the 8-9 p.m. hour during May sweep).

Will add substantial viewership via time-shifting and VOD - last week's Tuesday "Voice" increased by +27% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (from a 3.3 to a 4.2) and +2.5 million viewers overall (12.2 million to 14.7 million).

In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday Night: In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.4/6; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.2/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.4/4.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.3/5 in metered-market households; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.2/4. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.4/3 in 18-49; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
