Variety reports that David Schwimmer, perhaps best known for his role as Ross Geller on the hit NBC sitcom FRIENDS, has joined the cast of the newly-ordered comedy, MORNING HAS BROKEN, to air on the UK's Channel 4.

Schwimmer will portray "an American producer brought in to try to save a floundering breakfast-time show, "Good Morning... with Gail Sinclair." Julia Davis, who co-wrote the script alongside Nick Mohammed, will take on the role of the show's host. Mohammed will play one of Sinclair's fellow anchors. In the series, "after eight years of high ratings and winning awards, things begin to go wrong for Sinclair when the program loses viewers and tensions break out within the production team."

The show is set to air on Channel 4 in 2016. Davis comments that she is "looking forward to experimenting with friends whose work I love."

Rachel Springett, commissioning editor for comedy at Channel 4, commented, "Julia is one of our most talented comedic writers and actresses and it's a testament to the quality of her writing that she can attract such a big star."
