DSI Comedy Theater kicks off the final month of summer with a two night appearance from New York City's wildly popular North Coast. This fast paced and hilarious team is set to perform Friday August 8 and Saturday August 9 at 8:30 p.m. in DSI's new home at 462 W. Franklin Street. Tickets cost $10 are available at www.dsicomedy.com or by phone at 919-338-8150.

North Coast is a hybrid of hip hop, beatboxing, and improv comedy with rapidly growing reputation for creating comedy in an upbeat and fast-paced show. Established in 2009, North Coast is New York City's premier hip hop improv comedy team. In addition to performing at venues all over NYC, they currently tour the country teaching workshops & doing their improvised "hip hopera" at festivals, universities and comedy theaters. Over the last few years, they have been a huge hit at the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. They have released a full length album and have been invited to colleges, schools, and camps around the U.S. where they have performed, and led workshops teaching attendees how to freestyle rap, beatbox, and do improv scenework.

"I'm thrilled by every opportunity to introduce an audience to North Coast," says Associate Artistic Director Ashley Melzer. "Their comic timing and clever wordplay create an awesome amount of energy on stage that's sure to win over fans of hip hop, humor and having a great time."

North Coast's cast includes: Douglas Widick, James Robilotta, Boris Khaykin, Evan Kaufman, David Ebert, Rebecca Siegel and beatboxer Kaila Mullady. Their beatboxer, Mullady, was featured in the TED-Ed original, "Beatbox 101." She was also recently featured in a Slate story and she is the two-time winner of the BeatRhyme Championship. Cast member Robilotta is an in demand college keynote speaker, represented by CAMPUSPEAK and Khaykin recently starred in "Pokester," a Funny or Die video about a new social network. He also hosts IMPROvsTANUP at UCBEast in New York City.
