Comedian Anne Marie Scheffler comes to NY for a special performance of her Canadian hit show: Suddenly Mommy, at Carolines on Broadway, 1626 Broadway, New York City, January 11th at 6pm.

Scheffler's Not Getting It spoke for the women of her generation when she shone the light on being a single female at her 'peak.' Not Getting It, her fifth one person show, was turned into a one hour comedy special for The Comedy Network. When that led to a TV series, she pressed pause to have children: "When opportunity knocks, I like to open the door a crack and say-- can you give me a minute?"

Suddenly Mommy, Scheffler's seventh solo show, reveals the beauty and humour of extreme motherhood and how to "have it all." Again, she shines a light on the impossible: being a modern mom without losing yourself. "But truthfully, when you've spent your adult life dating badly, can you suddenly be good at relationships? Boundaries? And not give your self away -- this time to your kids? I used to date bad boys, but now I'm probably raising them."

The yin to Louis CK's yang, Scheffler's refreshing, honest comedy is much more than stand up, and gives motherhood the twist it so desperately deserves. Spoofing Celine Dion, Supernanny and the idea that you can raise perfect children while wearing high heels, she hits the nail on the head. She also speaks for women who are having children later in life, with partners they haven't known for that long... this is memoirist, mommy comedy at its best.

"Anne Marie Scheffler didn't think motherhood would be this hard. She thought she could be the sexy showbiz mom, with a baby in one arm, a movie script in the other. Her jarring realization otherwise makes for a humorous and entertaining show." - CBC Radio

The late Joe Bodelai (Kids in the Hall, Saturday Night Live) on Suddenly Mommy's debut: "You were beyond amazing. Every single beat, every moment was captivating, funny, and really profound. OMG."

General Admission tickets are $28. For advanced tickets call 212-757-4100 or go online at www.carolines.com (food and drink available during show).
