The Minnesota Orchestra is in need of some major changes. According to the StarTribune, what was once hailed as one of the top orchestras in the country, is now failing thanks to budget cuts from The Minnesota Orchestra Association (MOA). There are certainly economic concerns; the MOA cut costs in order to make funding within the community easier. However, the main disagreement is based on a difference in opinion about the future of the orchestra. While the musicians would like to remain part of a world-class orchestra, the MOA believe a scaled down orchestra would fair just as well.

Because the dispute is based on differing visions for the orchestra's future, negotiation is challenging. The best course of action is to come together and create an entirely new direction for the orchestra.

With the aid of financial backers and effective leadership, as well as fundamentals like a permanent residence for the orchestra, a top music director, and dedicated musicians, everyone can work together to make The Minnesota Orchestra a world-renown ensemble.
