(Le) Poisson Rouge is proud to announce Going Nowhere Slow: An Evening with Kranky Label Artists Steve Hauschildt and Christina Vantzou with special guest Svarte Greiner. Going Nowhere Slow takes its name from one of Kranky's t-shirt slogans - it's one of a handful of phrases which makes up the entirety of the label's advertising / public image over the past near quarter century.

Brussels-based composer Christina Vantzou will perform her 2015 release No3 as a trio with John Also Bennett on modular synths and Marilu Donovan on harp. Vantzou is formerly part of The Dead Texan, a project co-founded by Stars of the Lid's Adam Wiltzie. As a composer and orchestral arranger, her work is comprised of lush layers of classical instruments, synths, vocal samples and somnambulant melodies. Her latest record, No3, was released in October 2015 and was hailed as one of the year's 20 best Avant Garde albums by Spin Magazine. The trio's set will be accompanied by high definition slow motion visual accompaniment and 16mm projections.

Steve Hauschildt's third full-length record with Kranky, Where All is Fled (September 2015), landed on the same Spin list as Vantzou's record at the end of last year. The former member of the group Emeralds' compositions are contemporary, known to defy genre lines through their use of digital processing and synthesizers, yet also find themselves grounded in the past. The artist will perform a solo set.

Joining the evening is Svarte Greiner, the dark ambient "acoustic doom drone" project by Berlin-based Norwegian artist Erik K Skodvin, who also regularly performs as part of the Norwegian duo Deaf Center.

(Le) Poisson Rouge has presented a handful of other artists on Kranky's roster over the years, including: Atlas Sound, Deerhunter, Grouper, Tim Hecker, A Winged Victory for the Sullen and more. The venue also recently announced the new position of Curatorial Advisor, which has been filled by composer and Substrata Festival founder Rafael Anton Irisarri. Irissari has produced and engineered albums for Kranky, among a myriad of other labels. This performance is one booked under his direction and will be the first of many focusing on artists within these genres.

LPR prides itself in offering the highest quality eclectic programming, impeccable acoustics, and state-of-the art performance space, engineered by the legendary John Storyk/WSDG. A work of art itself, the physical facilities are the embodiment of the experimental philosophy that drives the venue. LPR is a source you can trust for exposure to visionary work, people of character, and a consistently dynamic environment.

Steve Hauschildt is an American electronic musician and artist who resides in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a member of the seminal band Emeralds from 2006-2013. A veteran of the experimental music community, Steve's compositions have utilized synthesizers, computers and digital processing to transform established norms and genres. To date he has released three full-length albums on Kranky as well an anthology of his work on Editions Mego.

Christina Vantzou is a composer and videomaker based in Brussels, Belgium. With a background in visual art, she ventured into music first as a video artist / animator / keyboardist as half of The Dead Texan and later as a touring member of Sparklehorse. 2015 saw the completion of her third album, an ambient-orchestral-synth-drone double lp, released on Kranky. Vantzou writes orchestral arrangements without any formal training, aided only by a midi keyboard and computer software. Her minimal chamber-drone pieces are accompanied by slow motion videos and films, and her live shows often feature loose interpretations of earlier recordings, giving new life to the dark, haunting vignettes with instrumentation like strings synths and theremin.
