Salt Lake Community College Chamber Singers will be Washington, D.C. to participate in the Presidential Inauguration Choir competition. Forty students and faculty from the College will compete with the choir and attend the Inauguration ceremony at the U.S. Capitol building marking the beginning of President Obama's second term in office on January 21, 2013.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to represent the College and to be apart of this historic event," said Anna Szabados, SLCC Dean of the School of Arts, Communication and New Media. "The SLCC Chamber Singers are a talented group that reflect well the caliber of student and quality of training at the College. We're proud to send them to President Obama's second inauguration ceremony."

President Obama's first term officially ends on January 20 at noon, at which time he will be sworn-in for a second term with his Vice President Joseph Biden. Because that day is a Sunday, in keeping with custom, the public ceremonies will be held the next day.

A documentary film crew comprised of both SLCC students and faculty will accompany the Chamber Singers to chronicle the trip and performance.
