Music Mountain, America's oldest continuing summer chamber music festival, launches its 86th Anniversary Season on Sunday, June 14th (3PM) with a gala performance and reception featuring David Finckel, Cello and Wu Han, Piano, Artistic Directors of Chamber Music Society at Lincoln Center. This weekend marks the beginning of another record-breaking summer season filled with numerous Music Mountain debuts, first time guests, a new recital series, and the continuation of the Saturday evening twilight series that welcomes jazz, country, and folk groups from around the region. Concerts are scheduled to run thru September 27th.
Sunday afternoon's performance will include: Bach: Sonata in G Major for Viola da Gamba & Harpsichord BWV 1027 - a Music Mountain premiere! Beethoven: Sonata for Cello and Piano # 4 in C Major, Op. 102, No. 1; Brahms: Sonata for Cello & Piano # 1 in E Minor, Opus 38; Scriabin: Five Preludes for solo piano, Op. 16 - a Music Mountain premiere! and Rachmaninoff: Sonata for Cello and Piano in G Minor, Op. 19.
Hailed as a "world class soloist" and one of classical music's most accomplished performers, cellist
David Finckel, the founding cellist of the Emerson String Quartet, is one of today's most influential classical musicians. Always in high demand as a chamber musician, Mr. Finckel, in recital with pianist Wu Han, appears in over one hundred concerts each season at the most prestigious venues and concert series' across the United States and around the world. In 2012, Mr. Finckel was named honoree and Artistic Director of the Mendelssohn Fellowship, a program established to identify young Korean musicians and promote chamber music in South Korea. He also serves at Professor of Cello at The Juilliard School, as well as Artist-in-Residence at Stony Brook University.
Pianist Wu Han ranks among the most esteemed and influential classical musicians in the world today and has risen to international prominence. She has appeared at many of the world's most prestigious concert series' and venues across the United States and around the world as a recitalist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician.

David Finckel and Wu Han have served as Artistic Directors of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center since 2004, and in 2011 were named Artistic Directors of Chamber Music Today, an annual festival held in Korea. In 2013, Wu Han and
David Finckel established a chamber music studio at Aspen Music Festival.
Music Mountain is located in Falls Village, Connecticut on Music Mountain Road, where a short scenic drive will bring you to Gordon Hall atop Music Mountain. Free parking and picnic facilities are available. Food, locally baked cookies, coffee and spring water are also available for purchase.
Chamber music concerts continue with Calidore String Quartet with Daniel Phillips, viola (June 21); Juilliard String Quartet (June 28); Arianna String Quartet with Colin Carr, cello (July 5); Peter Serkin and Julia Hsu, piano, 4 hands (July 12).
The Saturday Evening Twilight Series begins with The New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players (June 20); Cantata Profana (June 27); Jeff Newell's New-Trad Quartet (July 4);
Vince Giordano and The Nighthawks (July 11).
The New Distinguished Artist Recitals Series will commence on Friday, June 19th with Daniel Phillips, violin and Jonathan Yates, piano and continue with Kim Kashkashian, viola (June 26); and Colin Carr, cello and Jonathan Yates, piano (July 3).
Tickets for the Season Opening Concert & Reception on Sunday, June 14 are $75 and include a voucher for any regularly priced 2015 concert. Tickets for the Labor Day Benefit Concert & Reception on Sunday, September 6 are $75 and include a voucher for any regularly priced 2015 or 2016 concert. Two specially priced concerts on Sunday, June 28 with the Juilliard String Quartet and on Sunday, July 12 with Peter Serkin and Julia Hsu are $60.
Chamber Music Concerts are $35 at the door/$30 in advance. Twilight Series Concerts are $30 at the door/$27 in advance. Distinguished Artist Recitals are $35 at the door/$30 in advance Children ages 5-18 are admitted FREE for ALL CONCERTS when accompanied by a ticket holder. Friday Recitals are at 7:30pm; Saturday Twilight Concerts are at 6:30pm; Chamber Music concerts are at 3pm on Sundays, unless otherwise noted.
